2012 Featured Mariachi

Biography

Feria del Mariachi welcomes the winners of the "Sones de Mariachi por el Mundo" international mariachi competition, Mariachi 7 Leguas, as this year's featured mariachi. Founded in 2004, Mariachi 7 Leguas consists of 12 talented musicians from the Rio Grande Valley. They've shared the stage with many major artists including Ana Gabriel, Luis Miguel and Cristian Castro.

Most recently, Mariachi 7 Leguas won an international mariachi competition where they competed for the title "Best Mariachi in the World" against mariachis from 22 other countries around the world. The competition was put on by the Institute of Mexicans Abroad and commemorated the bicentennial of Mexico's independence and the centennial of the Mexican Revolution.
